From regular opportunities to give feedback, to a dynamic progress tracker which is updated every session, our goal is to work with you to make sure you’re having a satisfying experience. We want you to be able to see the progress with every session.

Why Joy of Maths?

The majority of UK secondary school maths teachers and many private maths tutors don’t have a maths-related degree

Being taught by someone with a maths-related degree can be crucial. Without this, children often can’t realise their true ability, or discover the joy of maths.

And why tutoring at all?

Almost a third of all UK secondary school children have had private tutoring

The reality is that 30% of secondary school children have private tutoring. And GCSE Maths is the most frequently-tutored subject.

Our story:

Joy of Maths was founded after years spent tutoring children who thought they hated maths. But it turns out they just had low confidence after struggling in school maths lessons.

Having studied maths at the University of Oxford for four years, I had the knowledge and experience to cover the topics they were struggling with in a new and approachable way, and their confidence soon grew.

Seeing the impact this had, I wanted to find a way to enable more children to be tutored by someone who’s studied maths at the highest level.

What people are saying:

“My daughter had been in the bottom set for years and thought she was rubbish at maths. With Tabatha’s help each week, she soon went from a grade 3 standard to a grade 8 and was moved to the top set. My daughter’s now considering doing maths at A-level.”
